Reiki

Updated: Jan 15, 2020

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on of hands" (mentioned in the Bible and other historical writings) and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low or unbalances, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. It is a slightly different experience for each person. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. My personal experience with Reiki started after I was involved with a very destructive person who left a stomach chakra wound that was very painful, and obvious. I now believe this person to have been a rare case of a psychic vampire who was draining energy from my solar plexus chakra and using that wound to further manipulate me. It sounds crazy, but if we are all made of energy, then some of us are givers - and some of us, are takers. I honestly would not have looked into Reiki had this not happened, but I knew there was something devastatingly wrong with me after that experience. After my first treatment at At The Healing Place, I felt much better but I realized I needed to focus on myself and leave this person behind, because he was an extreme taker. I began my studies of Reiki shortly afterward and attained my Level I attunement in March of 2018. I will receive my Level II attunement at the beginning of June and continue on to my Master Level III attunement in October 2018.
